Women Try Netball

Women Try Netball is for all women who:

  • want to meet others in a fun and sociable environment
  • enjoy team sports
  • fancy trying something new
  • love being outside in the fresh air

There have been a variety of "women try" groups that have been set up. These group run for 5 weeks at first with the opportunity of a further five sessions to support the long-term development of the group.

A qualified netball coach runs the 1.5 hour sessions – this involves coaching, helping members develop skills and teaching the rules through fun activities. Sessions are designed to suit all abilities - no previous netball experience or knowledge required.

Adult Friendly Netball League

The successful ‘try sessions’ have led to an adult-friendly netball league to take place.

This league has been organised by those that play in it. They always welcome new teams and people looking to play more social netball that fits in around family and other commitments.

How to get involved

If you're looking for a club environment with a higher competitive opportunity, go to CDNL

If you and your friends are interested in starting a netball group, would like contact details for a group near you, or wish to join in the league, contact: Helen.stepney@scambs.gov.uk.

Return to fitness through netball

These sessions are aimed at women of any age with a BMI of 26 or higher to help improve their fitness, mobility, strength and balance, in a fun and relaxed social environment. This means games will be played at a slower pace.

If you have any medical conditions and have not exercised for quite some time, you should get approval from your GP to exercise.

We offer all the fitness equipment you’ll need in the session. We advise wearing clothing that is easy to move around in and footwear that is well fitting and non slip. Rubber soled lace up/trainers are ideal. Bring a bottle of water and be prepared for any weather.

  • where: Cambourne Outside netball court
  • when: Starting 21 September - 12:15 pm to 1pm on Tuesdays
  • number of sessions: 6 (1 session a week for 6 weeks)
  • price: £12 (50% off thanks to Healthy You)

Pickleball is an enjoyable sport blending badminton, tennis, and table tennis. It's played indoors or outdoors on a badminton-sized court with an adjusted tennis net. 2 or 4 players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball, over a net.

Pickleball is like tennis in many ways but is more accessible for children and seniors.

Where can I do this?

At Cambourne Everyone Active, from 1 pm to 3 pm every Friday. The cost is £5.

New Age Kurling is an adapted version of curling that's played indoors on flat surfaces. You can play it standing up or sitting down.

Where can I do this?

We have 6 New Age Kurling sessions taking place in South Cambridgeshire. It's an ongoing programme.
