Aim of funding

We have set up a Grant Scheme as part of our Support for Ukraine programme. It promotes the integration of Ukrainian guests into the South Cambridgeshire community. The scheme will fund:

  • activities
  • events
  • projects
  • the above can be run by parish councils, community groups, and hosts.

Applicants for the fund will need to fill out a short form. They must show that their activity promotes integration and reduces social isolation. We want to reach out to the community to encourage activities and ideas that help Ukrainian guests meet and socialise, learn English, get creative, and have fun.

Ideas may include:

  • running an art class and needing funds for materials
  • an English learning class and needing to cover costs for books and pens
  • hosting a gathering to cook
  • going on a trip with Ukrainian guests to see the sights in Cambridge
  • developing work skills
  • offering emotional support
  • help with socialising with host community.

Any ideas to help Ukraninan guests to enjoy their stay and to have fun are welcome.

Who can apply?

An applicant might be:

  • a parish council
  • community group (constituted and with a bank account)
  • informal group (with the written support of their parish council or district councillor/s for the project)
  • host (with the written support of their parish council or district councillor/s for the project) showing that the idea has a reach beyond their own guest.

What can you apply for?

  • up to £300 grant to be awarded per activity/event/project
  • grant would cover the cost of things like venue hire, equipment, transport, and instructor time - whatever helps you make it happen
  • quotes welcome but not necessary – just a breakdown of expected costs.

What you can’t apply for:

  • activities that charge a fee
  • activities that have profits for private gain
  • items which only benefit individuals, rather than groups (for example bursaries and equipment that is not shared)
  • activities promoting political activities or religious belief
  • an activity that has already happened. You can’t use funding to pay for things that have already been delivered in the past, but you can use funding to do more of the activities you’ve already started
  • extending an activity that is already funded through our contracts.

We recognise that some groups may not be used to bidding for funds. This is where the Cambridge Council for Voluntary Service (CCVS) can help. They are well placed to offer local groups support and advice on funding bids. Phone them on 01223 464 696 or email enquiries@cambridgecvs.org.uk
