Village Classification Report (July 2012)
What is the Village Classification Report?
The Village Classification Report is one of a range of evidence base and supporting studies produced or commissioned by us to inform the preparation of the new Local Plan.
The Council's adopted Core Strategy classifies each of the district's 105 villages into four village categories (Rural Centres, Minor Rural Centres, Group Villages and Infill Villages) based on their sustainability, the services they provide and their role in the district. The preparation of the new Local Plan provides an opportunity to review the village categories and the classification of each village to take account of changing circumstances.
The Village Classification Report (July 2012) reviews the existing village categories and the classification of each village, and recommends options for revisions to both the village categories and the classification of individual villages. These options will be subject to public consultation through the preparation of Local Plan.
