What is the North West Cambridge Area Action Plan (AAP)?
The North West Cambridge AAP sets out the planning policies to guide the development on the north-western edge of Cambridge for housing, student accommodation, and new faculty buildings for the University of Cambridge, and was prepared jointly with Cambridge City Council.
Adopted North West Cambridge AAP
The North West Cambridge AAP, prepared jointly with Cambridge City Council, was adopted in October 2009. Further details on the joint North West Cambridge AAP are on the Cambridge City Council's webpage:
Preparation of the North West Cambridge AAP
We jointly submitted the North West Cambridge AAP along with Cambridge City Council to the Secretary of State in May 2008 and examination hearings to test the 'soundness' of the AAP were held in November - December 2008.
At the Inspectors' request, additional public consultation on a larger site option was held in March - April 2009. An additional examination hearing was held in June 2009.
In August 2009, the Inspectors issued their Inspectors Report concluding that the North West Cambridge AAP is 'sound' subject to a number of binding changes being made.
The North West Cambridge AAP was formally adopted on 22 October 2009.
