Cambridge East Area Action Plan (AAP)

What is the Cambridge East Area Action Plan?

The Cambridge East AAP sets out the planning policies to guide the proposed development on the eastern edge of Cambridge around Cambridge Airport, and was prepared jointly with Cambridge City Council.

Adopted Cambridge East AAP

The Cambridge East AAP was adopted in February 2008.

Preparation of the Cambridge East AAP

We, in partnership with Cambridge City Council, submitted the Cambridge East AAP to the Secretary of State in January 2006 and examination hearings to test the 'soundness' of the Cambridge East AAP were held in July 2007.

Following the examination hearings, the Inspector indicated that on the basis of the information available certain changes were needed. In order to make the Cambridge East AAP 'sound' in relation to the proposed Green Separation between the development and the villages of Teversham and Fen Ditton, further public consultation was undertaken in October to November 2007.

In December 2007, the Inspector issued their Inspectors report concluding that the Cambridge East AAP is 'sound' subject to a number of binding changes being made.

The Cambridge East AAP was formally adopted on 21 February 2008.
