Freedom of information (FOI) requests
The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) allows you to ask for information from public authorities. This can help people learn more about our work.
Information about yourself is treated differently and you can request this as part of your personal data rights.
Information that is already available
Before making a request, see if the information is available in one of the following places:
- NNDR accounts showing Charges, Reliefs and Exemptions [XLS, 2.5MB]
- public registers, such as planning applications
- FOI publication scheme, which shows what information we make available on a regular basis
Make an FOI request
Email foi@scambs.gov.uk to make your FOI request, or write to us:

After you have made a request
We will give you a receipt for your request and a reference number. We aim to answer your request within 20 business days, but this might be longer in some situations. If we need more time to respond, we will let you know.
We may ask you to explain further if we're unsure about what information you want.
If we can’t answer your request or give you the information you wanted, we will let you know why.
If you have questions about the information we give to you, we may treat these as new requests.
If you are not happy with our response
If you are unhappy with the response we have given you, then you can ask for a review by emailing foi@scambs.gov.uk.
We will deal with your review in line with our Internal review policy [PDF, 0.2MB].
If you are not satisfied with the outcome of the review you can make a complaint to the Information Commissioner.
Using the information in an FOI request
